Installing the booth
- Download the installer and run it on the booth PC, on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. The service that drives the camera and printer is included: nothing else to install.
- If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
- On first launch, sign in with your dashboard email and password. There is no pairing code: the booth shows up on its own in the dashboard’s Machines menu. This first sign-in needs the Internet.
- Solo plans cover two machines, Pro up to 10. One more is refused until you revoke a machine (Machines menu, “Révoquer”, at most three times a month) or, beyond two machines, move to Pro. Reinstalling on the same PC does not take an extra seat.
Opening the booth settings
The booth cockpit opens from the gear icon at the top right of the screen, with five quick taps in the top-left corner of the start screen, or with Ctrl+Shift+A on a keyboard. A PIN protects it.
- The factory PIN is 1234. Change it before opening to the public: Machine › Compte › “Nouveau code d’accès”, 4 to 8 digits.
- After five wrong PINs, entry locks for one minute.
- The F11 key switches full screen on and off.
The day before the event
- Connect the booth to the Internet and pick the event in the cockpit: it downloads settings and templates, then reports the event as “synchronisé et activé”.
- Test the camera: Machine › Caméra › “Prendre une photo test”.
- Test the printer: Machine › Impression › “Imprimer une page de test”. The 4x6 test chart has millimetre rulers; fix the framing in the “Alignement” card.
- Enter the loaded roll under “Papier restant”: the booth counts prints and warns you before the end. It is an estimate: the printer does not report its paper level.
- A second printer can take over: set it on the event page, “Impressions” panel, “Seconde imprimante” section.
- For a video guestbook, check the PC microphone: without one, the video is silent.
Setting up the Canon camera
- Connect the camera over USB in PTP mode (on the EOS 2000D: menu, USB settings, “PTP”), and close EOS Utility and EOS Webcam Utility before starting the booth.
- Run it on mains power and turn off its auto power-off: a sleeping camera stops responding.
- Set manual exposure and a fixed white balance, so the night’s photos stay consistent.
- Photos always land on the PC. Copying to the camera’s SD card is optional (Machine › Stockage); video is recorded on the PC, from live view.
Supported cameras, webcams and printers: compatible hardware
During the event
- Wi-Fi down: the booth keeps shooting, printing and showing the QR code. A guest who scans it sees “Your photo is on its way”, and the page updates on its own. Emails go out as soon as the photo is online.
- Camera not responding: the guest reads “The camera isn’t responding. Let the team know”, and the screen returns to the start after one minute. Switch the camera back on or reconnect it: the next photo picks it up on its own.
- The “Camera and printer unreachable” banner means the hardware service has stopped responding. Close and reopen Froozbooth: the service starts with the app.
- A print does not come out: the booth cannot read paper or ribbon status, and a print accepted by Windows counts as sent. Check paper, ribbon and the Windows print queue, then resend the print from Machine › Envois.
- Print limit reached: reset the counter in Machine › Envois, “Tirages” card, “Remettre à zéro”. Limits are set on the event page, “Impressions” panel.
After the event
- Reconnect the booth to the Internet: pending photos, videos and emails go out on their own, as soon as Windows is back online and at every start. Machine › Envois shows what is left, with a “Relancer” button.
- What goes online: the final photo, its thumbnail and videos. GIFs and the camera’s originals are not uploaded.
- The gallery link expires 90 days after the event by default (30, 90 or 365 days, or never, on the event page). Files are deleted 30 days after expiry; until then, extending the duration reopens the link.
- 10 GB of online storage is included, plus 100 GB with Cloud+. An uploaded 4x6 photo weighs about 0.5 to 1 MB: 10 GB holds several thousand, fewer with videos.
- Storage full: booths keep shooting and printing. Photos wait on the PC and go out as soon as there is room.
License, trial and updates
- During the 15-day trial, the photo and the print carry the “Froozbooth · Essai” watermark. It disappears as soon as you choose a plan.
- The booth must go online at least once every 14 days, whatever the plan: its license renews at each connection and lasts 14 days offline. The cockpit shows how many days are left.
- Keep Windows date and time on automatic: a date set back locks the booth, a date set ahead can make the license look expired.
- The booth checks for updates at start-up and every six hours, and shows “Update” when a version is ready. Nothing installs without you: Machine › Compte › “Logiciel” › “Installer”. It restarts on its own in about a minute.
- Remote commands (pause, reprint, resend, log) need Cloud+, or the trial. Booth status stays visible without it, in the Machines menu.
Frequently asked questions
Windows blocks the installation: what do I do?
Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”: click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. The installer then runs normally.
My Canon camera is not detected
Switch the camera on, connect it over USB in PTP mode, close EOS Utility and EOS Webcam Utility, then refresh the list in Machine › Caméra. On the EOS 2000D, PTP mode is in the USB settings menu.
The booth shows “Borne non autorisée”
All the machines in your plan are taken. Revoke an unused machine in the dashboard’s Machines menu, or move to Pro, then tap “C’est fait — réessayer” on the booth.
Photos have not reached the gallery
They are waiting on the booth. Connect it to the Internet: uploading resumes on its own. Machine › Envois shows what is left and lets you retry. If online storage is full, free some space or add the Cloud option.
How do I reset the print counter?
In the booth cockpit: Machine › Envois, “Tirages” card, “Remettre à zéro”. The counter is specific to each booth and each event.
Can the booth stay offline for a whole season?
No. It must go online at least once every 14 days to renew its license, lifetime license included. A week without network is fine if it connected just before.
How do I send the log to support?
Machine › Diagnostic › “Afficher le journal”: the hardware service log appears, with the path of its file on the PC. Attach it, or a photo of the screen, to your email to contact@froozbooth.com. With the Cloud option, “Récupérer le journal” fetches it from the dashboard.
What is the PIN for the booth settings?
The factory PIN is 1234; change it before the booth is open to the public, in Machine › Compte › “Nouveau code d’accès” (4 to 8 digits). The settings open from the gear icon at the top right, with five quick taps in the top-left corner of the start screen, or with Ctrl+Shift+A. After five wrong PINs, entry locks for one minute.
What should I check the day before an event?
Sync the event, then test the camera and the printer. Connect the booth to the Internet and pick the event in the cockpit until it shows “synchronisé et activé”, take a test photo in Machine › Caméra, and print the test chart in Machine › Impression to fix the framing in the “Alignement” card. Enter the loaded roll under “Papier restant” so the booth warns you before the paper runs out, and check the PC microphone if you offer a video guestbook.
The booth says the print was sent, but nothing came out
The booth cannot read paper or ribbon status, so once Windows accepts a print, it counts as sent. Check the paper, the ribbon and the Windows print queue, then resend the print from Machine › Envois. To keep printing if a printer fails, set a second printer on the event page, “Impressions” panel, “Seconde imprimante” section: it can take over from the first one.
How do I update Froozbooth?
When the booth shows “Update”, install it from Machine › Compte › “Logiciel” › “Installer”. The booth checks for new versions at start-up and every six hours, and nothing installs without you. It restarts on its own in about a minute, so update between events rather than during one; updates are included in every plan.
What do I do if the camera stops responding during the event?
Switch the camera back on or reconnect it: the next photo picks it up on its own. Meanwhile, the guest sees a message asking them to tell the team, and the screen returns to the start after one minute. If the “Camera and printer unreachable” banner appears, the hardware service has stopped: close and reopen Froozbooth, and the service starts with the app. To prevent it, run the camera on mains power and turn off its auto power-off.
Why does the booth say my license has expired?
Usually because the Windows date and time are wrong, or because the booth has not been online for 14 days. Keep the date and time on automatic: a date set back locks the booth, and a date set ahead can make the license look expired. Then connect the booth to the Internet: its license renews at each connection, and the cockpit shows how many days are left.
