AI photo booth software: transformed portraits, printed on the spot

Guests pose as usual; a few seconds later, they walk away with a print where they wear a disco outfit, strike an old master’s pose or star in a western. Froozbooth makes these AI portraits from the Windows booth, with styles you write yourself, paid per portrait with prepaid credits. Here is how this AI photo booth works at events, what it costs, and what AI asks of your booth, with us and with everyone else.

What people call an AI photo booth

The term covers four very different families of effects, with different results and different technical demands. Before comparing software, know which one you want to sell.

  • Transformed portraitsAn image editing model reinterprets the photo: outfit, scenery, painting style, movie poster. This is what Froozbooth does.
  • Background removal, no green screenA model finds the people and swaps the scene behind them. Froozbooth does it with a real green screen, cleaner on a print.
  • Generated backgroundsThe backdrop is created from a text prompt, once for the event or for each session.
  • Face swapThe guest’s face is placed on a character. Spectacular, but tricky on image rights and consent.

AI portraits in Froozbooth

You turn on AI portraits in an event’s effects, pick one or more styles, and the booth does the rest: after the last pose, it shows “The magic is happening…”, sends the photos, and places the result in your template, for the print as well as for QR sharing.

  • Six ready-made styles80s disco, old master painting, western, superhero, film noir, tropical beach. Duplicate them and edit them.
  • Your own promptsWrite the style in your own words, up to twelve per event. Test it from the dashboard on a sample photo before the party.
  • One style per sessionAlways the same one for a brand, or picked at random each session for a party.
  • All poses in parallelA session’s poses are sent together: the wait is that of the slowest one, not the sum.
Before and after: a photo of three guests, then the same portrait edited by AI in the “80s disco” style.

The prompt never leaves your account: the booth only sends the style’s name, and our servers add their safeguards. A copied booth cannot generate just anything on your dime.

What happens when the network drops

This is the question to ask every vendor. With Froozbooth, the answer is simple: the session never blocks. With no network, no credits, or past the time limit you set (15 to 90 seconds, 45 by default), the booth uses the original photos and the guest leaves with a print.

  • AI portraits are the only booth feature that needs internet. Turn them off and the booth runs fully offline.
  • Plan a dedicated 4G or 5G connection for an event where AI is sold to the client: venue Wi-Fi is rarely reliable on the night.
  • A portrait cap per event protects your balance: a booth left unattended will not drain your credits.

How much an AI photo booth costs

With Froozbooth, one credit equals one portrait edited with a standard model. Credits come in packs, with no subscription, on top of the license: 100 portraits for €29, 300 for €59, 1,000 for €149, which is €0.15 a portrait in the large pack. A credit is refunded if the generation fails.

AI in the booth or on a server?

The models that can transform a portrait convincingly need a graphics card that no booth mini PC carries today. So Froozbooth uses a server for AI portraits and keeps everything else in the booth: green screen, for example, is processed on site, with no network. Green screen photo booth

AI, privacy and image rights

  • Photos go through our servers to the model provider, with the no-retention option: they are not used to train a model.
  • The result follows your gallery’s retention period, like the event’s other photos.
  • Adapt the booth’s consent text to tell guests their photo is edited by an online service.
  • Write moods, not copyrighted works or famous faces: providers refuse those requests, and copyright and image rights forbid them.

Do you need AI to rent out a photo booth?

It depends on your clients. At corporate events, trade shows or product launches, an AI portrait draws a crowd and is billed as an option. At weddings, the classic print still rules: AI makes a good add-on for part of the night, with a style picked by the couple. With credits rather than a subscription, you only pay for AI on the nights you sell it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Froozbooth do AI?

Yes. Froozbooth offers AI portraits: the guest’s photo is edited in a style you choose (outfit, scenery, painting, movie mood) then placed in your template, for printing and sharing. Six styles are included, and you can write your own.

How much do Froozbooth AI portraits cost?

One credit equals one portrait edited with a standard model, and Nano Banana Pro costs three. The packs, with no subscription: 100 portraits for €29, 300 for €59, 1,000 for €149, which is €0.15 a portrait in the large pack. They come on top of the license, whatever the plan, and a credit is refunded if the generation fails.

Does an AI photo booth work without internet?

AI portraits need a connection: the model runs on a server. Froozbooth still never blocks the session: with no network, or past the time limit you set, the booth prints the original photo. The rest of the booth, green screen included, works offline.

How long does an AI portrait take?

Usually one to a few tens of seconds, depending on the model and the network. All poses of a session are sent at the same time, and you set the maximum wait per event, from 15 to 90 seconds.

Can I write my own styles?

Yes. Each style is a prompt you write in your own language, up to twelve per event, and you can test it from the dashboard on a sample photo. The booth picks a style at random each session, or always keeps the same one.

What is the best AI photo booth software?

On iPad, Simple Booth and Snappic are the most complete for brand activations. On Windows, Froozbooth makes AI portraits with a natively controlled Canon or Nikon DSLR and a dye-sub printer, with no higher plan to buy. Compare the real cost of AI over a year, not the entry price.

Does AI in a photo booth raise privacy issues?

It takes a little care. The photo is sent to a provider to be edited: it has to appear in your records, and the consent text shown to guests has to say so. Froozbooth uses the provider’s no-retention option, and the result follows your gallery’s retention period.

Can you replace the background without a green screen?

With AI background removal, yes, but results are uneven on hair, props and groups. Froozbooth keys out a real green screen, processed in the booth with no network, and offers AI portraits to transform the whole photo.
