What the web booth is
The web booth is not a cut-down mode or a remote control: it is the same application as the Windows booth, compiled for the browser. The guest flow, template editor, green screen, AI portraits, sharing and gallery are the product’s own. Only the layer that talks to hardware changes: instead of driving a DSLR and printer over USB, the page uses the device camera and the system print dialog.
It lives at froozbooth.com/borne, on the same domain as the dashboard. A signed-in operator gets in with one click, no code and no password. The event is prepared on the site as usual: templates, settings, guest copy, sharing channels. The booth only plays it.
- Nothing to installOne address, one screen, and the booth starts. Updates arrive with the site.
- The same templatesFrames designed in the dashboard are the ones the booth shows and prints.

The hardware: a camera and a browser
The web booth is made for machines where you will not — or cannot — install anything: a Mac, a Chromebook, a tablet, a locked-down Windows PC, or a spare screen on the night. All it needs is a camera and a recent browser.
| Item | What you need | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Device | Mac, Windows PC, Chromebook or iPad | A recent browser is enough; no installer. |
| Camera | Built-in camera or USB webcam | The browser cannot drive a Canon or Nikon DSLR. |
| Printer | Any printer installed in the system | The print dialog picks the printer and paper size. |
| Network | Internet to prepare and upload | The booth reopens offline once installed. |
On a computer, a USB webcam usually beats a built-in camera: you place it at face height, fix it, and the framing stops moving for the night. On an iPad, the front camera is enough for a light booth, provided you lock the device in Guided Access. Canon and Nikon DSLRs: the Windows booth hardware
The guest flow stays the same
Guests see the same welcome screen, the same countdown, the same sharing screen. The modes enabled for the event are the ones on display: single photo, multi-shot strip, GIF, boomerang or video. The template built in the editor is composed in the browser, with the same fonts, margins and print rendering.
- Photo, strip, GIF, boomerang and video, depending on the modes enabled for the event.
- Green screen and AI portraits, using the AI credits bought on the account.
- QR to the gallery, email delivery, public gallery protected by a code if needed.
- Guest screen in 19 languages.
The result matches because the code matches. What changes is the photo’s path: in the browser it stays in local storage until it is uploaded to the online gallery, where it can be downloaded. There is no folder to open on disk. Free photo booth templates to download
Printing: the one real difference
A browser does not print silently by default: every print opens its dialog, where you choose the printer, the paper size and “Margins: none”. That works for one evening, but it is tiring for every guest. There are two answers.
- Chrome started with kiosk printing sends each print straight to the system default printer, with no dialog. The booth shows the option and the command for each system under Machine → Printing.
- On iPad and Mac, AirPrint handles it from the print dialog; the Froozbooth iPad app removes the dialog and sends each print on its own.
On iPhone and Chromebook, silent printing is not possible in the browser: the dialog opens for every print. A test page, printed before the event, checks framing and paper size. For a booth with a DSLR and a driven dye-sublimation printer, the Windows booth remains the right machine. Choosing a photo booth printer
Offline: install it as an app
Left in a plain tab, the booth needs the network to load. Installed as a web app, it opens without a connection: the service worker keeps the app and template images, the event media is copied into browser storage, and the upload queue resumes on its own when the network returns.
Install it with the “Install the booth” button in Chrome or Edge, or “Add to Home Screen” in Safari on iPad and Mac. A new version downloads in the background and waits for the next start: it never reloads the page in the middle of a session.
Two limits to know before the night: AI portraits need the internet at capture time, and sharing over the booth’s own Wi-Fi, with no network, requires the Windows booth. The web booth’s QR leads to the online gallery; without a connection, it will not open. Photo booth help: prepare the event and fix problems on site
Sign-in, license and machine count
Served on the dashboard’s domain, the booth sees the operator’s session: one click connects it. On another tablet, a six-digit code links it to the account, and the password remains the last resort. The booth registers as a “Web booth” machine, which sets it apart from a Windows PC in the booth list.
It counts as one machine of the plan, just like a PC. Solo includes two, Pro up to ten. There is no “web” surcharge: the license, gallery, QR, emails and updates are the same. Photo booth software pricing: what each plan includes
Web booth or Windows booth?
The choice comes down to two questions: is your camera a DSLR, and do you want to print without a dialog? If both answers are no, the web booth is enough and saves you the install. If either is yes, you need the Windows booth.
| Criterion | Web booth | Windows booth |
|---|---|---|
| Install | None, just a web address | .exe installer on Windows 10 or 11 |
| Camera | Built-in camera or USB webcam | Webcam, Canon and Nikon DSLRs natively |
| Printing | Browser dialog; silent with Chrome kiosk mode | Direct, with paper and cutting controlled |
| Offline | Yes, once installed as an app | Yes, native |
| Local Wi-Fi sharing | No | Yes |
| Printer settings | Those of the system | Paper left, alignment, diagnostics |
| Updates | At the next start | Through the installer |
| Machines | One machine of the plan | One machine of the plan |
The web booth is the right choice on a Mac, Chromebook or iPad, for a light webcam booth, as a second screen on a big night, or to try Froozbooth without installing anything. The Windows booth remains essential as soon as there is a DSLR, a DNP or Citizen printer to drive precisely, or local sharing without internet. Windows photo booth software: PC, DSLR and printing
Get the web booth running
- Prepare the event in the dashboard: template, modes, copy, sharing and gallery.
- Open froozbooth.com/borne on the device that will face the guests.
- Sign in: one click from the dashboard, or the six-digit code on another tablet.
- Pick the event, then install the booth as an app for offline use.
- Go full screen, allow the camera, print a test page and run a trial session.
- On the night, lock full screen: Chrome in kiosk mode, or Guided Access on iPad.
The 15-day trial is exactly for this: checking the camera, the printer and how the screen feels before the first booking. A web booth is still a booth; full screen, camera permission and the default printer are what make the difference on the night. Photo booth setup: the event-day checklist
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install software to use the web booth?
No. It opens at froozbooth.com/borne in a recent browser. You can install it as a web app so it reopens offline and full screen, but that is not required for a connected event.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari. Chrome and Edge allow one-click installation and silent kiosk printing; Safari is the browser on iPad and Mac, with AirPrint. Avoid old browsers and private browsing, which refuse local storage.
Can I connect a Canon or Nikon DSLR to the web booth?
No. A browser cannot drive a DSLR over USB. The web booth uses the device camera or a USB webcam; for a DSLR you need the Windows booth, which talks natively to Canon and Nikon bodies.
Can it print without the browser dialog?
Yes, with Chrome started in kiosk printing mode: every print goes straight to the system default printer. On iPad and Mac, AirPrint prints from the dialog, and the Froozbooth iPad app removes it. On iPhone and Chromebook, the dialog opens for every print.
Does the web booth work without internet?
Yes, once installed as an app and with the event loaded. Capture, templates, GIF, boomerang and green screen stay local; emails, the gallery and AI portraits wait for the network. Sharing over the booth’s own Wi-Fi, with no internet, exists only on the Windows booth.
Does the web booth work on an iPad?
Yes, in Safari, with the iPad camera and AirPrint for printing. Guided Access locks the device for the event. The Froozbooth iPad app opens the same booth and adds dialog-free AirPrint.
How many machines does a web booth count for?
One, like a PC. Solo includes two machines, Pro up to ten. A web booth and a PC can therefore share the same plan, with no browser surcharge.
Where do photos taken in the browser go?
They stay in the browser’s local storage until uploaded to the online gallery, then download from that gallery. There is no folder on disk to open as on the Windows booth, and unsent media takes up the space the browser grants the site.
Can guests share over local Wi-Fi without internet?
No. The web booth’s QR leads to the online gallery: the guest needs a network to open it. Sharing over the booth’s own Wi-Fi, which works without a connection, requires the Windows booth.
Is the web booth included in the plan or sold separately?
It is included in Solo and Pro, at no extra cost. It is the same account, the same license, the same events and the same gallery as the Windows booth.
