DSLR photo booth software for Canon, DNP and Citizen

Froozbooth runs on a Windows PC, controls Canon cameras natively and prints to any printer installed on Windows. Here is what works, and what does not.

Camera: native Canon control, webcams too

Canon EOS cameras are controlled natively through EDSDK, the official Canon software development kit. The booth fires the camera, pulls the photo and shows guests a live view during the countdown.

Any webcam Windows recognizes works as well. For other camera brands, use the maker’s webcam utility or an HDMI capture card: the booth then sees the camera as a webcam, without native control.

  • Live view during the countdown
  • Framing help: grid or live collage
  • Photos saved to the camera’s SD card or to a Windows folder

Printer: if Windows prints, the booth prints

There is no approved-model list. The booth prints to any printer installed on Windows, including the dye-sub printers common at events, such as the DNP DS620 and DS-RX1 or Citizen models.

  • 4x6 prints and 2x6 strips, two per sheet
  • Default copies, plus limits per event and per guest
  • Paper tracking based on the loaded roll
  • Test page to check the layout before the event

Computer: a Windows PC

The booth installs on Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, with a standard installer. A separate service drives the camera and printer, apart from the guest screen.

There is no macOS or Linux version. A laptop or a mini PC running Windows works fine.

Two machines, two booths

Your license covers two PCs paired at the same time, each with its own camera and printer: a main booth and a backup, or two rooms the same night.

Frequently asked questions

Which Canon cameras are supported?

Canon EOS bodies supported by EDSDK, the official Canon kit. Connect the camera over USB in PTP mode, and close EOS Utility before starting the booth.

Can I use a Nikon or Sony camera?

Yes, as a webcam, through the maker’s utility or an HDMI capture card. Native control is Canon only.

Which printer should I buy?

A dye-sub printer, such as a DNP or Citizen, is still the event standard: prints come out dry, right away. Install its Windows driver and the booth uses it directly.

Do I need internet at the venue?

No. After one sync, capture and printing run locally. Only emails and the gallery wait for the network to come back.
