The cost over three years
A modest subscription ends up costing more than a license, and a gallery module added every year changes the ranking. Here is what each tool costs a rental company over three years, at the public entry price.

- Sparkbooth DSLR$189Lifetime license, DSLR edition. Gallery depends on the plan.

Hidden costs to check
- The online gallery: included with some, a paid module with others, sometimes billed per event.
- The second booth: a license per machine doubles the bill the day you add a backup.
- Updates: a lifetime license with one year of updates becomes a paid upgrade as soon as Windows or your camera changes.
- AI effects: often kept for the top plan, or billed per generation. With Froozbooth, prepaid credits on any plan, from €0.15 a portrait.
- Exchange rates: a price in dollars moves with the exchange rate and the VAT applied at purchase.
- Storage: a season of photos quickly weighs tens of GB.
Subscription or lifetime license?
A lifetime license costs less if you keep the software for several years, and if its updates keep coming. A subscription spreads the cost, lets you walk away without a loss if the market does not take off, and usually includes the online services. At Froozbooth, all three plans have the same features: €14 a month with no commitment, €139 a year, or €299 once, which becomes the cheapest from the third year.
